The site and spaces of the Observatorium are not just structures that contain(ed) instruments and practices of measurements, they also carry meanings in themselves. Through their visibility and positioning they were public signs of knowledge and power. The architecture, lay out and decorations convey significations that surpass the functional, and enscribe the building in art-historic vocabularies.

It is important to open new registers of meaning. Therefore these wiki entries extend beyond the factual and invite you to add observations and interpretations from various perspectives; non-western visual traditions, animal or plant co-existances, multi-sensorial signs and sightings: smells, sounds, tastes, feelings.
